Minister of Education Commissions Projects at BUK
The Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has commissioned several projects at Bayero University, Kano, as part of the 38th Convocation Ceremony. The projects commissioned include:

- The Center for Teaching and Learning
- The Microteaching Laboratory at the Faculty of Education
- The Department of Veterinary Anatomy at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
- The Center for Reading Research and Development
The Minister was led on a tour of the newly constructed edifices by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, and other Principal Officers of the University. He also visited other facilities, including:
- The Training and Research Farm
- The Instrumentation Laboratory at the Centre for Dryland Agriculture
- The Solar Power Plant Station
At the Solar Power Plant Station, the Vice Chancellor appealed to the Minister to resuscitate the plant by replacing the damaged batteries and inverters, which have been out of use for an extended period. This has resulted in power outages and significant expenses for diesel to power generators.
The Education Minister assured that the Federal Government has plans to power Nigerian universities and will investigate the contract for the N5 billion power plant in BUK to revive it.

At the Centre for Dryland Agriculture, the Director, Professor Jibrin Mohammed Jibrin, showcased the Instrumentation Laboratory, which analyzes data to help farmers use accurate fertilizer formulas. The Centre has made a significant breakthrough in identifying the sexes of date-palm trees, addressing a long-standing problem for farmers.

The Minister expressed his delight at the development and encouraged Nigerian companies to collaborate with universities to benefit from their innovations and research. He emphasized the importance of imparting agricultural skills through the University's farm as part of the Federal Government's goal to inculcate skills in learners at all levels.
