Wadada Donated Vehicle Will Be Safeguarded, Says Nasarawa State University VC

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has assured that the vehicle donated to the National Association of Nasarawa State Students (NASSA) NSUK Chapter by Distinguished Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada will be safeguarded, preventing it from being sold or mismanaged like in some other institutions. 

This assurance was conveyed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo, during a courtesy visit by a group of concerned NASSA stakeholders on Friday, October 4, 2024. Professor Modibbo revealed that the university had received disturbing reports that a NASSA official at another tertiary institution in Nasarawa State had sold the vehicle donated by Senator Wadada. In response, the university has implemented measures to protect the vehicle donated to the NSUK chapter of NASSA from similar misuse.

Professor Modibbo expressed the university's appreciation for Senator Wadada's donation, which was intended to ease transportation challenges faced by NASSA. He emphasized that the university's management had taken decisive steps to ensure the vehicle would not be abused by the students.

Comrade Alkhamis Ladan, leader of the delegation and former NSUK NASSA President, as well as Special Assistant to the Nasarawa State APC Chairman on media and publicity, explained that the visit was part of a statewide sensitization tour to tertiary institutions that received vehicles from Senator Wadada. Disturbing reports had emerged that some beneficiaries had begun selling the vehicles. Comrade Alkhamis conveyed Senator Wadada’s disappointment with the situation and urged students to take responsibility for the vehicles. He emphasized Senator Wadada’s commitment to education and youth empowerment and reaffirmed the senator's support for initiatives that would benefit the youth of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.

Dr. Yahaya Muhammad, the Dean of Students Affairs at NSUK, also addressed the delegation, noting that the Deanery had established mechanisms to prevent misuse of the vehicle. He urged students to be law-abiding and support the developmental efforts of the university administration.

The visit concluded with an inspection of the donated vehicle by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Modibbo and the NASSA stakeholders.
