Miss UNILESA Champions Moral Consciousness with Inaugural “Chastity” Advocacy Programme
The maiden advocacy programme of Miss Unilesa 2025, Ojo Mercy Goodness, was held to significant participation from students and members of the university community as she unveiled her campaign themed “Chastity.” The initiative focused on promoting moral consciousness, self-discipline, and responsible decision-making among students, reflecting her commitment to purposeful leadership and value-driven engagement on campus.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, Ph.D, FCA, commended the beauty queen for initiating a thoughtful and impactful programme aimed at strengthening character and personal responsibility among students. Represented by the Head of Department of Microbiology, Dr. Feruke Bello, the Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to students’ welfare, holistic development, and support for initiatives that positively influence their lives.
The Registrar, Mr. Funso Ojo, who was represented by the Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, Mr. Moshood Adebodun, also lent institutional support, underscoring the management’s endorsement of student-centred developmental programmes.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Adigun of the Department of English emphasised the importance of discipline, self-worth, and responsible decision-making, particularly among female students. She noted that young women are often at the receiving end of the consequences of poor sexual choices and encouraged them to uphold dignity, make informed life decisions, and prioritise personal and academic growth.
The event also featured interactive sessions where students engaged in open discussions on issues relating to sexual choices, relationships, self-control, and personal values, creating a safe space for reflection and learning.
As part of the outreach component of the programme, Miss Unilesa 2025 distributed sanitary pads and body fragrances to students, demonstrating practical support for personal hygiene and well-being. She expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar for their personal donations and thanked the university management for believing in her vision.
The programme recorded remarkable participation and impact, leaving students enlightened, empowered, and positively influenced.
