MOAU Vice-Chancellor Pledges Support for Gender Equity and Inclusive Development

The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2026, received members of the Centre for Gender Studies led by the Director, Prof. Member George-Genyi. He affirmed his administration’s commitment to promote gender equity and inclusive development in the institution.

Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Centre for its contributions to research, advocacy and capacity building in gender-related issues. He emphasized that gender studies play a critical role in fostering institutional growth, social justice and balanced representation in higher education.

Professor Alabar assured the Centre of Management’s continued support, stressing the University’s commitment to policies and programmes that promote fairness, equal opportunity and academic excellence. He encouraged the Centre to strengthen its research efforts, expand collaborations and intensify awareness campaigns to increase its impact across the University community.

Earlier, the Director of the Centre, Professor Member George-Genyi, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for granting them audience and congratulated him on his inclusive leadership. She reiterated the Centre’s dedication to advancing gender mainstreaming within the University, the state and the country.

Professor George-Genyi also briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the Centre’s on-going programmes, including researches, workshops and advocacy initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and gender balance. She outlined some of the challenges facing the Centre and appealed for sustained institutional support to enhance its effectiveness.
