The Vice-Chancellor of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, has emphasized the need for strict adherence to academic integrity and ethical standards among postgraduate students.
He made this known on Friday, 24th April, 2026, during the 14th Lecture Series of the Postgraduate School held at the Faculty of Social Sciences Conference Hall.
The Vice-Chancellor described academic integrity as the cornerstone of credible research and sustainable scholarship, noting that any compromise in ethical standards diminishes the value and impact of academic work.

Professor Alabar urged students to be guided by honesty, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of their research endeavours. He further advised them to cultivate discipline, effective time management, and a strong commitment to excellence, stressing that success in postgraduate studies is achieved through consistent effort rather than last-minute preparations. He added that the University remains committed to providing an enabling environment that supports quality research, learning, and timely graduation.
Delivering the lecture titled “Academic Integrity and Ethical Standards in Postgraduate Research,” the Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Professor Bosha Joel Aondohulugh, highlighted the importance of originality in research, proper citation of sources, and strict compliance with established ethical guidelines. According to him, the initiative is designed to acquaint students with the values, culture, and administrative procedures of the Postgraduate School, particularly in relation to ethical protocols and academic regulations guiding their programmes.
Professor Anhwange added that admission into postgraduate studies reflects the students’ capacity, commitment, and vision to advance their academic careers, urging them to remain focused and diligent in their pursuits.
