MSSN, Muslim Ummah Partner with Turkish Charities to Distribute Over 600kg of Qurbani Meat at GSU
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Gombe State University Branch, in collaboration with the Muslim Ummah of Gombe State University on Thursday May 28th 2026, successfully distributed over 600 kilograms of Qurbani meat to students and staff students of the university community as part of the 2026 Eid al-Adha/Qurbani intervention programme.
The intervention was made possible through the generous support of the Turkish humanitarian organisations and agencies behind the 2026 Nigeria Vekâletle Kurban Programı (Eid al-Adha/Qurbani Programme), alongside the contribution of the Muslim Ummah of Gombe State University.
A total of 100 slots of meat donations, each containing 5 kilograms, were allocated collectively to MSSN GSU and the Muslim Ummah GSU, amounting to approximately 500 kilograms of meat. In addition, the Muslim Ummah GSU slaughtered a cow locally, generating over 100 kilograms of meat, bringing the total distribution to well above 600 kilograms.

The exercise benefitted more than 250 members of the university community, including both staff and students, males and females alike. The distribution was carried out peacefully and transparently, reflecting the spirit of compassion, brotherhood, and mutual support which Eid al-Adha symbolises.
MSSN GSU and the Muslim Ummah GSU express profound appreciation to the Turkish donors and sponsoring organisations for their kindness, generosity, and continuous commitment to supporting Muslim communities across the world. The associations also commend all volunteers and coordinators who contributed to the success of the exercise.
This intervention serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, charity, and collective responsibility in building a caring and supportive community.
