MTN Nigeria Foundation has announced the disbursement of N114 million in scholarships to 380 students across Nigerian universities for the year 2024. This initiative aims to support students, including those who are visually impaired, in pursuing their academic goals.

The announcement was made during an award ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja, where the foundation also inducted the scholarship recipients into the MTN Scholarship Alumni Association. The scholarships are designed to cover students from entry-level to final year and will be renewed annually, provided the recipients meet further requirements.

Aishatu Sadauki, the Director of MTN Nigeria Foundation, emphasized the foundation's commitment to empowering individuals regardless of their backgrounds. "We believe that every individual, regardless of their backgrounds or socio-economic stages, can be a trailblazer, problem-solver, and visionary," she stated during her opening address.

Sadauki reassured the scholarship recipients of the foundation's unwavering support as they strive for academic excellence. "We are here to support you as you strive for academic excellence, and we will use every tool in our arsenal to do so," she added.

In her remarks to the awardees, Sadauki encouraged them to build meaningful connections and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to positively impact society. "You have shown that obstacles are not roadblocks, but detours that lead to greatness," she said, reminding them of the foundation's belief in their potential to make a difference in the world.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from various institutions, including Prof. Chris Piwuna, who represented the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, and Basira Agbabiaka, who represented the JAMB registrar.
