NAAT Congratulates Federal University Lokoja on Successful MBBS Accreditation

The Federal University Lokoja (FULokoja) chapter of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has commended the University Management, particularly outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, for the successful accreditation of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

The Federal University Lokoja (FULokoja) chapter of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has commended the University Management, particularly outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, for the successful accreditation of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

In a statement signed by Branch Chairman Mr. Ilepinran Jibril Oni, NAAT described the achievement as a reflection of Professor Akinwumi’s visionary leadership, commitment to excellence, and determination to position FULokoja as a centre of academic distinction. The association further noted that the accreditation is a milestone not just for the University, but also for the advancement of medical education and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

NAAT reaffirmed its support and partnership with the University, celebrating the historic success alongside the entire University community.

The accreditation followed MDCN’s second assessment visit on Thursday, 29th January 2026, after an initial unsuccessful attempt in August 2025. Addressing the University community, Professor Akinwumi expressed gratitude to God and commended his management team, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Mike Ogirima, mni, and other staff for their dedication in securing the landmark approval.
