The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced that out of 67,751 candidates who participated in the 2024 examinations, 44,000 candidates, representing 65.35%, scored five credits or more, including Mathematics and English Language. Additionally, 62,235 candidates, or 92.42%, achieved five credits or more, regardless of their performance in Mathematics and English.

Dr. Nnasia Ndareke Asanga, the acting Registrar of NABTEB, addressed ongoing challenges in technical education during the announcement. He underscored the urgent need for improved funding, better equipment, and the establishment of more technical colleges. Asanga emphasized that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is crucial for bridging the gap between education and unemployment.

He also reported that 349 candidates were implicated in examination malpractice during this year’s exams, which undermines trust in the education system. Despite these challenges, NABTEB remains committed to conducting skill-based assessments and awarding certificates in Business, Vocational, and Technical Education at both Ordinary and Advanced levels.
