NAKSS BUK Chapter Applauds Kano State Government for Education Support

The National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS), Bayero University, Kano (BUK) Chapter, extends heartfelt commendation to the Kano State Government for its remarkable initiative. This commendation is in recognition of the government's complete payment of registration fees for indigent students at Bayero University, Kano, a testament to its unwavering commitment to enhancing the educational landscape of the state.

In recent times, Federal Government-owned universities, including BUK, witnessed a significant increase in registration fees, causing understandable concern and anxiety among students and their parents. Regrettably, this resulted in a substantial portion of the student population contemplating withdrawal from their studies due to their inability to cope with the exorbitant fee hike.

In response to this fee increment, the Kano State Government promptly assessed the plight of thousands of students and intervened to settle the outstanding payments. This historic step makes Abba Kabir Yusuf the first governor in Nigeria to undertake such an initiative.

NAKSS BUK Chapter extends its plea to the government to also consider indigenous postgraduate students, a majority of whom have been affected by the fee hike and are struggling to complete their payments.

In closing, NAKSS BUK Chapter urges the compassionate administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf to extend further support by providing palliative measures in the form of scholarships. This would help alleviate the economic hardships faced by students, especially during these challenging times characterized by inflation and increased petrol prices.
