NAMLAS-UDUS Delegation Participates in 20th Annual General Conference and Shari'a Colloquium in Kano
The Nigeria Association of Muslim Law Students’ (NAMLAS), Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) chapter, has attended the 20th Annual General Conference and Shari'a @25 Colloquium, held on Thursday December 18th, 2025, at Musa Abdullahi Auditorium, Bayero University Kano.
The conference, organised by Nigeria Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS) headquarters, Abuja, featured a public discourse on a theme: “Shariah Implementation in a Secular State: Historical Background, Challenges and the Way Forward,” delivered by Prof. M.B Usman, the guest speaker.
In addition, the annual conference, which started on December 17th and ends until 21st December 2025, has brought together several delegates across the nation, including representatives from government institutions, Islamic organisations, universities and other professional bodies.
Meanwhile, the delegates representing NAMLAS-UDUS were Nura Sani Bena, Usman Abubakar Babadoko, and AbdulShakur Uthman, Shehu Uthman, and other members from the faculty of law.
In an interview with DIGEST PRESS, the Ameer of NAMLAS-UDUS, Nura Sani Bena expressed his gratitude to all the members that were able to grace the occasion.
“I sincerely extend my heartfelt appreciation to all my fellow UDUS colleagues who dedicated their time, spent their hard-earned money, and braved the challenges to attend the program.”
While making his appreciative remarks, he also advised his fellow law students to make the most of event of this kind, encouraging them to attend all insightful programmes in order to grow and network with others.
He said, “My advice to NAMLAS-UDUS members is to keep pushing, attend every program you can, it's not just about the event, it's about building connections, gaining insights, and growing your circle.”
Speaking with Abdul-Shakur Uthman, the General Secretary of NAMLAS-UDUS, he equally expressed words of encouragement and stressed on the need for members to learn more about Islamic historical background so as to gain more insights about the religion.
In his words, “We should all endeavour to study our history thoroughly. This will help us understand where we started, where we are now, and where we are heading.
"If you don't know where you are going, at least know where you came from, so that if you get lost, you can find your way back." We should also set clear goals and work diligently towards achieving them.”
