It is this remarkable intersection between appearance and biology that formed the centrepiece of the 465th Inaugural Lecture of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, and the 19th in the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Olusola Olabisi Ayanlowo of the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine.
The event explored the vital role of the skin beyond aesthetics, highlighting its function as the body's first line of defence and the intricate biological processes that sustain health.
