NANS JCC Nasarawa State Demands Immediate Resignation of NYSC DG
The demand stems from the recent decision by the NYSC DG to deny registration to polytechnic graduates holding Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) certificates at orientation camps, citing the need for certification from the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT).
The National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC) Nasarawa State has issued a strong call for the immediate resignation of the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The demand stems from the recent decision by the NYSC DG to deny registration to polytechnic graduates holding Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) certificates at orientation camps, citing the need for certification from the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT).
In a statement, Comrade Haruna Ibrahim Sale, the Executive Chairman of NANS JCC Nasarawa State, condemned the decision as "unacceptable" and "inhumane," arguing that it causes unnecessary delays in the careers of affected students. He further called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to replace the NYSC DG, labeling the actions as unjust and harmful to the future of Nigerian polytechnic students.
The statement also noted that the National President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has already expressed strong objections to the policy. NANS JCC Nasarawa State is urging other student bodies, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the National Association of University Students (NAUS), and the National Association of Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), to join forces in addressing this issue. The aim is to restore the dignity of these organizations and alleviate the stress on students at orientation camps.
"We will not tolerate this injustice. Justice is an open wound, and only truth can heal it," Comrade Sale stated, emphasizing that the polytechnic students of Nigeria are determined to fight for their rights. The statement also called for unity among students, urging them to set aside divisions of religion, tribe, and politics to ensure better representation and advocacy for their collective interests.
The NANS JCC Nasarawa State concluded by calling on vibrant advocates, gallant student union leaders, and articulate individuals to stand firm in this struggle, asserting that they will not retreat nor surrender until their demands are met.
