Nasarawa State University Establishes High-Powered Committee to Investigate SUG Election Crisis

Following the recent students' uprising due to the conduct of the Students Union Government (SUG) election on September 4, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, has inaugurated a High-Powered Committee to investigate the crisis.

The committee, with a two-week deadline to submit its report, is tasked with:

1. Investigating the immediate and remote causes of the students' uprising

2. Identifying key players and principal actors in the crisis

3. Assessing the level of damage to university property

4. Determining internal and external involvement and connivance

5. Recommending measures to prevent future occurrences

6. Advising management on related matters

The university management is also soliciting memoranda from staff, students, and concerned citizens to provide crucial information and recommendations to forestall similar incidents. Memoranda should be submitted to the Registrar's office, Information and Protocol Officer, or the Secretary to the Committee by September 13, 2024.
