Nasarawa State University JACMEDGEO Centre Boosts Operations as DVC (RIL) Donates Personal Vehicle
In a significant gesture aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and operational efficiency, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Linkages (DVC RIL), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor K’tso Nghargbu, has donated his personal vehicle to the Jose A. Centeno International Medical Geology Research Centre (JACMEDGEO).
In a significant gesture aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and operational efficiency, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Linkages (DVC RIL), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor K’tso Nghargbu, has donated his personal vehicle to the Jose A. Centeno International Medical Geology Research Centre (JACMEDGEO).

The donation, a Peugeot 607 saloon car, is intended to address mobility and logistical challenges facing the Centre, while enhancing its functionality and global outlook. The vehicle was formally presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, at the Senate Building of the University.
Speaking during the presentation, Professor Nghargbu explained that the donation was motivated by his passion for institutional development and his commitment to ensuring that JACMEDGEO, described as the first of its kind globally, is adequately equipped to meet its operational demands. He noted that the vehicle would support the Director of the Centre in the effective coordination of activities and improve the Centre’s capacity to operate competitively at national and international levels.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, commended the DVC (RIL) for what she described as a rare act of personal sacrifice in the interest of academic and research advancement. She acknowledged his instrumental role in the establishment of JACMEDGEO and praised his unwavering dedication to positioning the Centre as a globally recognised hub of excellence in medical geology.
In his remarks, the Director of JACMEDGEO and Visiting Professor of Geology from South Africa, Professor Davies, expressed gratitude to the University Management for the warm reception and support extended to him since his arrival in Nigeria. He assured that the vehicle would be used responsibly and pledged to deploy his expertise towards advancing the research mandate and global visibility of the Centre.

The event was marked by the symbolic presentation of the vehicle by the DVC (RIL) to the Vice-Chancellor, followed by its formal handover to the Director of the Centre, underscoring the University’s commitment to research-driven development and strategic institutional support.
