Nasarawa State University, Keffi Seeks Improved Funding from Stakeholders

In a strategic move to secure increased funding, Professor Saadatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, met with key stakeholders on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

The meetings aimed to explore proactive ways to enhance funding for the university, enabling it to introduce new programs approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and compete favorably with peer institutions.

Professor Liman and her management team engaged with Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and the leadership of the House Committee on Education, Science, and Technology. The stakeholders assured the university management that legislative action would be taken to address funding anomalies and allocate additional resources to the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor also solicited support from His Royal Highness Justice Muhammad Sidi Bage I, Emir of Lafia and Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs. The royal father expressed pride in the university's achievements and pledged his support by reaching out to the government and like-minded individuals to advocate for increased funding.

 

Furthermore, Professor Liman met with the Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, under the aegis of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). Honourable Isah Safiyanu Andaha, Nasarawa State Chairman of ALGON, commended the university management for repositioning the institution and promised to rally support from ALGON members to facilitate the local governments' role in the university's development.
