NCDMB and NLNG Delegation Visits Modibbo Adama University, Yola
Modibbo Adama University, Yola, recently received a high-powered delegation from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) on a collaborative visit aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships in research and capacity development.
The delegation was at the university to inspect the progress of an ongoing upgrade works at the Centre of Excellence on Health, Safety, and Environment (CoE-HSE), located within the institution’s Central Laboratory complex.
The visit is a preparatory step toward the procurement and installation of state-of-the-art equipment, which will be provided by NLNG after the upgrade is completed.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting team, Mr. Dagogo Buhari highlighted that the collaboration between NCDMB and Modibbo Adama University, Yola, is part of a broader commitment to building in-country capacities that support Nigeria’s industrialization drive.
He emphasized that the visit was primarily to assess the stage of the upgrade to fast-track the next phase of the project.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Umar ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Iliyasu Audu, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed deep appreciation for the ongoing support from NCDMB and NLNG. He underscored the vital role of the Central Laboratory in advancing research, innovation, and academic excellence. He also called for sustained investment in research and development initiatives.
Also present at the occasion, was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Aliyu Bawuro Mustapha and the University Bursar, Mr. Haniel N. Ayuka.
The NCDMB/MAU Centre of Excellence on Health, Safety, and Environment is a product of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the university and the NCDMB.
The Centre is designed to serve the oil and gas industry by providing top-tier research and training facilities, thereby reducing the need for offshore research partnerships.
According to the Director of the Centre, Professor Bashir Aliyu, who was away on official assignment, stated that the collaboration is initially set for a five-year period, with potential for extension based on performance and impact.
After the meeting, the delegation, alongside members of the University management, embarked on a tour of the Centre of Excellence on Health, Safety and Environment (CoE HSE) situated at the Central Lab Complex of the University, to evaluate the progress of the ongoing upgrade. The team also visited the University’s solar farm, which is scheduled to be commissioned within the next two months.
