NDLEA Warns University Students Against Drug Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has cautioned students at the University of Delta, Agbor, to avoid drug abuse, warning that offenders will face severe consequences, including expulsion from school, criminal prosecution, damage to future career prospects, and destruction of the body system.

NDLEA Warns University Students Against Drug Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has cautioned students at the University of Delta, Agbor, to avoid drug abuse, warning that offenders will face severe consequences, including expulsion from school, criminal prosecution, damage to future career prospects, and destruction of the body system.

At the 2024/2025 orientation exercise, NDLEA's Commander Wada Abubakar emphasized the agency's commitment to combating drug abuse. He urged students to stay away from drugs and focus on achieving their goals, adding that a drug-free life leads to a brighter future.

University officials also advised students to maintain a law-abiding, focused, and healthy lifestyle. Vice Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke congratulated the students on their admission and urged them to be law-abiding, focused, and always do the right thing.

Other orientation lectures covered topics such as dress code, strategies for academic excellence, medical facilities and Medicare, ethics and moral responsibilities, library services, sports and recreation, and security tips.

This warning is part of NDLEA's ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse among Nigerian youths, which has been reported to be at an alarming rate. The agency has been collaborating with other organizations to educate students about the dangers of drug and substance addiction .
