NECO Shifts Blame for Exam Malpractices to Supervisors
Oba Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, emphasized the vital role of NECO in the education system. He urged NECO to continue its efforts in curbing examination malpractices, as the future of the country depends on the integrity of the educational system.
The new South-West Zonal Director of the National Examination Council (NECO), Deborah Fukop, addressed the issue of examination malpractices in Nigeria during a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun. She attributed the problem of examination malpractices to the supervisors, mainly teachers, and stressed that they are the ones compromising on integrity, not the council.
Deborah Fukop acknowledged the importance of tackling examination malpractices and stated that NECO is actively taking measures to address the issue. She highlighted the existence of mechanisms in place to prevent, monitor, and penalize malpractices before, during, and after examinations. However, when supervisors fail in their responsibility, the system becomes compromised.
