NELFUND Issues Notice on Temporary NIN Access Restrictions for Student Loan Applicants

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced temporary delays for some loan applicants due to ongoing security upgrades affecting National Identification Number (NIN) access.

In a statement posted on their social media page, the management of NELFUND addressed the issue, saying, “Dear Student Applicants, Due to some upgrades in the security for NIN, the ability to access NIN is temporarily restricted.”

This restriction poses a challenge for applicants who do not have their NIN linked to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as they may encounter difficulties when applying for financial assistance from NELFUND. “This means that for those who do not have NIN attached to the JAMB, some difficulties may be experienced when applying for the NELFUND finance.”

However, for those whose NIN is already linked to their JAMB profile, the application process remains unaffected. “Where the NIN is linked to the JAMB, the process continues as normal and so the application process is unaffected. We have been advised that the service will be restored soon,” the statement concluded.
