The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Bayelsa State branch, has proposed a partnership with Federal University Otuoke (FUO) to enhance the institution’s mail service efficiency.
This intention was expressed during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Teddy Charles Adias, at his office on the West Campus on November 25, 2024. The delegation was led by the Postal Manager, Mrs. Esther Ijeoma Ugoosuoha.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Ugoosuoha expressed her pleasure at meeting with the Vice -Chancellor, highlighting the urgency of their visit. She emphasized the importance of informing the public about NIPOST’s rebranded services in the digital era. “We are leveraging advancements in ICT to collaborate with universities nationwide, enabling them to utilize NIPOST’s state-of-the-art facilities,” she stated.
Mrs. Ugoosuoha passionately appealed to the Vice- Chancellor and the FUO Management team to consider adopting NIPOST’s services. She outlined key offerings, including Bulk Mail services for large-scale correspondence, Express Mail Service (EMS) for both domestic and international deliveries, and AirPost for expedited deliveries to Abuja and Kano within a week.
She further underscored NIPOST’s commitment to building customer confidence by introducing innovative, web-based solutions. These include real-time tracking for Speed Post, EMS, cargo services, and financial services tailored for unbanked individuals. Mrs. Ugoosuoha reassured her audience that technological advancements have not replaced NIPOST’s services but have instead enhanced their efficiency and reliability.
In response, Professor Teddy Charles Adias, the Vice-Chancellor of FUO, extended a warm welcome to the NIPOST delegation and granted approval for their request to establish a service space within the university, as proposed. He directed the team to coordinate with the Registrar to facilitate this initiative.
Regarding the reliability of NIPOST services, the Vice-Chancellor expressed concerns over recurring delays in transcript deliveries and tracking. However, he reaffirmed the University management’s openness to collaborate with NIPOST, provided the organization can maintain competitive pricing and improve service efficiency.
