Prof. Asagba Assumes Office as DELSU Vice Chancellor, Honours Predecessor

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, witnessed a historic transition as Prof. Samuel Asagba assumed office as the new Vice Chancellor, succeeding Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, whose tenure spanned December 1, 2019, to November 30, 2024.

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, witnessed a historic transition as Prof. Samuel Asagba assumed office as the new Vice Chancellor, succeeding Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, whose tenure spanned December 1, 2019, to November 30, 2024.

In a formal handover ceremony held at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, followed by a thanksgiving mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Prof. Asagba lauded Prof. Egwunyenga’s transformational leadership, which he described as revolutionary and impactful on staff, students, and the broader university community.

To commemorate Prof. Egwunyenga’s achievements, Prof. Asagba announced the renaming of the Faculty of Management Science Complex at the Abraka Campus to Prof. Andy Egwunyenga Complex. He praised the outgoing Vice Chancellor for the record-breaking completion of the complex in just 11 months, alongside other milestones such as the expansion of academic programs, increased student enrollment, infrastructural development, and a stable academic calendar.

While pledging to build on his predecessor’s legacy, Prof. Asagba solicited support from the university community, promising to take DELSU to greater heights.

During the thanksgiving mass, Prof. Egwunyenga expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the collective effort that enabled his administration’s accomplishments. He extended appreciation to the government, university stakeholders, and the host community for their unwavering support and urged the same cooperation for the incoming administration.
