Jerome Bettis, a 49-year-old former American football star and Pro Football Hall of Famer, has completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Notre Dame, 28 years after leaving college to pursue a professional football career.
Returning to his alma mater, Bettis faced challenges adapting to modern academic life, noting his struggle with new technology and campus layout. Despite using traditional pen and paper while classmates used iPads, Bettis persevered, driven by a promise he made to his mother to finish his education.

Bettis, who enrolled at Notre Dame in 2019, focused solely on his studies after retiring from football. He celebrated his graduation in 2022 with his mother and family, expressing pride in his accomplishment.
“I have been waiting 28 years to celebrate this moment. I am so proud to be a graduate of the University of Notre Dame class of 2022,” Bettis posted on Instagram, thanking everyone who supported his journey.
