The Grooming People for Better Livelihood Centre, an NGO focused on uplifting economically disadvantaged communities, has empowered students in Abia State by awarding scholarships and renovating St. Peter’s Secondary School in Awomnuzie, Ikwuano LGA.

The Grooming People for Better Livelihood Centre, an NGO dedicated to uplifting Nigeria’s economically disadvantaged, has awarded scholarships and renovated a local secondary school. The initiative aims to enhance the learning experience for students in the region.

The organization recently completed the renovation of St. Peter’s Secondary School in Awomnuzie, Ikwuano LGA, equipping it with modern facilities designed to create an ideal educational environment. The upgrades include new classrooms, fully-equipped science laboratories, computer labs, and updated administrative offices, all featuring advanced learning tools such as projectors and interactive whiteboards.

“We believe in the transformative power of education, and we are committed to investing in the future of these young minds by providing an environment that supports learning and growth,” stated the NGO's management in a press release on Sunday.

Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, Founder and CEO of the Grooming Centre, emphasized the importance of quality education for all children, regardless of their backgrounds. “We are proud to play a role in helping shape their future through these facilities,” he remarked.

As part of the 8th Lady Kate Okafor Scholarship Scheme, the Grooming Centre has awarded scholarships to 931 secondary school students, supporting promising individuals in their pursuit of academic excellence. Dr. Nwabunka highlighted, “This scholarship program is part of our ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for deserving students.”

The initiative has garnered praise from the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia, a partner in the project, further underscoring the collaborative effort to improve educational standards in the area.
