Niger State Court Grants Bail to Man Charged with Assaulting 400Level IBBU Student
Mohammed Abba Yahaya, accused of grievous harm to 400-level IBBU student Hassana Sani, has been granted bail by a Minna court.
Niger State, Magistrate Court Eight has granted bail to 26-year-old Mohammed Abba Yahaya, who faces charges for allegedly causing grievous harm to a 400-level student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU). The student, Miss Hassana Sani, hails from Kangiwa area, Chanchaga Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred last month, when Yahaya, a suspected former boyfriend of Sani, allegedly assaulted her, causing severe injuries to her right eye. He is also accused of stealing Sani's mobile phone, valued at N210,000.

The case was brought to attention by Sani's mother, Fatima Sani, a widow, who reported the assault at the Chanchaga Police Station. The matter was subsequently transferred to the Police CID Headquarters for a detailed investigation.

Yahaya's alleged actions are said to contravene Section 2 (4) of the Criminal Penal Code Law. Despite the gravity of the charges, the court has granted him bail pending further proceedings.
