Nigerian Academic Community at FUTA Celebrates Ayo Ogunruku at 70, Honoring a Legacy of Excellence in University Administration

The event celebrated the life and accomplishments of Ogunruku, FUTA's first university administrator and former Registrar of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
The celebration, which featured a thanksgiving service, book launch, and lecture, drew prominent figures from the academic and public sectors. At the Chapel of Faith, FUTA, Arc. Adebowale Ademo, National Vice President of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International, praised Ogunruku’s integrity and service to humanity, urging attendees to follow his example of living a purposeful life dedicated to God and others.
During the book launch and lecture, FUTA’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, commended Ogunruku's significant contributions to the university's growth, noting his continued dedication to guiding administrative officers. She described him as an epitome of commitment and diligence, praising his role in shaping higher education in Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, represented by Registrar Mr. Ganiyu Saliu, lauded Ogunruku’s pragmatic leadership, emphasizing the critical need for adept administrative officers in managing complex university systems. He credited Ogunruku for mentoring future leaders who now serve in key administrative roles across institutions.
In his response, Mr. Ogunruku expressed gratitude to God and to all who had supported him throughout his career. He acknowledged the role of his mentees and colleagues in his success, underscoring the importance of teamwork and mentorship.
The event, which included the review of Ogunruku’s books "Life as Ordained" and "Encounters," was a testament to his lasting legacy in Nigerian higher education. Dignitaries, including the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro, joined in celebrating his achievements and contributions to the academic community.
