The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny, has initiated discussions with Mandilas Enterprises Limited on a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening industry-focused technical training and improving students’ readiness for the workplace.

A high-powered delegation from FPOG, led by the Rector, Dr. Victor Okolobah, visited Mandilas Enterprises Limited on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to explore opportunities for collaboration between the Polytechnic and the company.
Mandilas Group Limited is one of Nigeria’s longstanding trading and services conglomerates, with operations spanning key areas including mobility services, accredited vehicle sales and servicing, and cooling solutions.
The meeting, which was held at the Mandilas office in the Residential Area (RA) of NLNG, Bonny Island, was attended by the Contract Manager, Dumo Abel-Taria. Discussions focused on establishing a mutually beneficial relationship that would help bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements.
The proposed collaboration is expected to provide FPOG students with specialised and practical technical training aligned with current industry needs while enhancing their employability and workplace readiness.

The core objectives of the proposed collaboration include:
-
Skills Enhancement: To equip students with hands-on, market-relevant technical competencies that will improve graduate employability.
-
Curriculum Alignment: To ensure that academic and technical training frameworks reflect current industrial standards and real-world workplace requirements.
-
Internships and Placement: To create structured pathways for students to gain practical exposure through industrial training and work placement opportunities.
-
One-year IT Training Opportunity: To provide FPOG students with opportunities to undergo one year of industrial training with Mandilas.
-
Four-month SIWES Opportunity: To create four-month Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) opportunities for FPOG students.
-
Executive Managerial Training: To provide executive managerial training at the Polytechnic for supervisors of Mandilas.
-
Retainership of FPOG Medical Centre: To establish a retainership arrangement for the Polytechnic’s medical centre.
-
HVAC Training and Equipment: To provide HVAC training and equipment for FPOG.
The proposed partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions to producing graduates who are better equipped to meet the demands of the labour market, particularly in the energy and technical services sectors.

Under the leadership of Dr. Victor Okolobah, FPOG has continued to pursue institutional growth and sustainability through the expansion of academic programmes, improvement of campus infrastructure and development of strategic partnerships with local industries tailored to the needs of the energy sector.
