Following his visa denial and the subsequent withdrawal of his admission by the university, Ajiboye requested a refund of his deposit. He disclosed that he had made a payment of £7,000 through two channels: a friend’s Mastercard and Globus Bank’s e-form portal.
While the university successfully refunded half of the money sent via the Mastercard, it has been unable to refund the other half paid through Globus Bank due to an “account format invalid” error.
Ajiboye revealed that the university had made three unsuccessful attempts to refund the money on May 24, July 11, and September 26, 2023. The university has since stated that it will not attempt another refund until Globus Bank resolves the issue.

Despite writing to the general manager and the manager of Globus Bank’s Allen Avenue, Lagos branch in August 2023, Ajiboye received no response. Even a hard copy of the complaint letter he personally submitted went unanswered.
In 2023, Ajiboye’s wife enlisted the help of a lawyer and visited the headquarters of Globus Bank. Following this, the bank assigned an official to address the complaint. However, the bank has remained silent since then, and the official in charge has refused to communicate with Ajiboye. “The university is saying they will not be able to refund until the proper account format details are received from Globus Bank. Disappointedly, the bank has refused to say anything after this message, and the official in charge has equally refused to talk to me.”, he stated.

Ajiboye lamented the hardship this issue has caused him and his family, with unpaid bills piling up and creditors frequently knocking at his door. In his words, “This money has made me and my family face life in a hard way. We have a series of unpaid bills, with creditors knocking at my door at unwarranted times.”
Despite Ajiboye’s repeated attempts to resolve the issue, the bank representatives keeps telling him the premeditated response to “communicate with our customer to engage us for further assistance”.
