Northwest University Kano Welcomes Newly Appointed Chancellor, Emir of Lafia, During Transit Stop

The management of Northwest University Kano warmly received His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I (rtd), the Emir of Lafia and newly appointed Chancellor of the university, during his transit through Kano en route to Gashua for an official assignment.  

The Emir, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, was recently appointed as Chancellor by the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.  

A high-powered university delegation, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Aisha Garba Habib, and the University Registrar, Adm. Isyaku Adamu, welcomed the royal visitor at a brief reception. The team represented Vice-Chancellor Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, who was unavoidably absent.

Expressing his appreciation, the Emir said: "I am deeply honored by this warm reception, even though this is just a transit stop on my way to Gashua. This gesture reflects the noble values and hospitality of Northwest University." 

The university's management, including the Bursar Mal. Salmanu Muhammad Kibiya and University Librarian Dr. Karimatu Isa Maisango, among other officials, were present to welcome the royal entourage. They offered prayers for the Emir's safe journey and successful mission in Gashua.

The Emir was accompanied by the Emir of Nasarawa, His Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril, and other dignitaries from the Lafia Emirate.  

This impromptu reception highlights the strong relationship between the academic institution and Nigeria's traditional leadership. The university community looks forward to the Emir's formal inauguration as Chancellor, which will further strengthen institutional ties.
