NSUK Makes History as the Only African University at 2nd EUCA Networking Event in Portugal

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has achieved a historic milestone as the only African university participating in the 2nd EUCA Networking Event on European Union (EU)-funded projects, currently taking place in Portugal.

The event brings together leading universities and research institutions across Europe and beyond to foster collaboration and access to EU-funded research, training, and innovation opportunities.

Representing NSUK, the delegation led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Linkages), Associate Professor K’tso Nghargbu, is engaging actively to position the university strategically within the European academic and research ecosystem.

The NSUK team is focusing on securing strategic collaborations and exploring major EU funding streams, including:

• Erasmus+ – for enhanced staff and student mobility programmes.
• Horizon Europe – for large-scale, collaborative research and innovation projects.
• VETFunds (Vocational Education and Training Funds) – for capacity building and skill development initiatives.

NSUK’s participation as the sole representative from Africa underscores its strong internationalisation agenda and reflects the university’s commitment to global academic competitiveness and research excellence.

This achievement marks a new chapter in NSUK’s pursuit of global relevance, as the institution continues to expand its partnerships, visibility, and access to international research opportunities.
