NSUK VC Hosts Historic Joint Iftar and Lenten Fast-Breaking
In a powerful display of interfaith harmony, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, hosted a joint fast-breaking event on Thursday, 12th March 2026.
The gathering brought together members of the Muslim community observing Ramadan and the Christian community observing Lent at the University’s Assembly Hall.
Speaking with the Information and Protocol Unit, Professor Liman emphasized that the simultaneous occurrence of these two holy seasons is a divine opportunity for reflection and togetherness.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the overlapping of Ramadan and Lent is "no coincidence," but a symbolic call for adherents of both major religions to unite. She urged the university community to stand together in support of the government's efforts to provide a better life for all citizens, highlighting that national prosperity requires collective spiritual and social backing.
Professor Liman seized the opportunity of the occasion to deliver a message of peace and institutional loyalty; Be Your Brother’s Keeper. She encouraged staff and students to practice empathy and look out for one another's welfare, regardless of religious background. The Assembly Hall was filled with a sense of "perfect harmony" as scholars, administrative staff, and students shared a meal at sunset. The event was hailed by attendees as a landmark moment that reinforces NSUK's reputation as a "mini-Nigeria" where diversity is celebrated.
Special prayers were offered for the peace of Nasarawa State and the continued growth of the university.
