NYSC Honours Corps Members, Staff and Partners for Outstanding Community Development Service

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has recognized exceptional Corps Members for their significant contributions to national development through personal Community Development Service (CDS) projects. Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the NYSC Director General, also extended honors to staff members and collaborating partners who demonstrated exemplary performance in community development initiatives.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has recognized exceptional Corps Members for their significant contributions to national development through personal Community Development Service (CDS) projects.

The awards were presented during the formal launch of the 2024 CDS activities and the Director General’s CDS Award ceremony held in Abuja on Monday, July 21.

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the NYSC Director General, also extended honors to staff members and collaborating partners who demonstrated exemplary performance in community development initiatives. The Director General’s CDS Award, established in 2021, aims to inspire Corps Members, staff, and partners to actively engage in community development activities, fostering healthy competition among them.

The award ceremony, themed “Excellence in Action: Celebrating NYSC CDS Success Stories,” featured four distinct categories:

1. Best CDS Groups:

  • First place: NEMA CDS group from Borno State
  • Second place: Education and ICT CDS group from Adamawa
  • Third place: Legal Aid CDS group from Taraba State

2. Best Individual CDS Projects:

  • Wisdom Wealth Nduchika (FC/22B/5682/) emerged as the top individual contributor.
  • Abdullahi Alhaji Nuhu (KT/23A/0015/) secured the second position.
  • Joint third place: Mathew Maxwell Ohiare (ED/22B/2203) and Akwuobi Ebuka Stephen (TR/22B/0657).

3. Best CDS Schedule Officers:

  • Nationwide winner: Mr. Buhari Aliyu Karaye (Katsina State Secretariat)
  • Second place: Mr. Mohammed Adams Maunde (Borno State)
  • Third place: Ituma Emmanuel Omenka (Ebonyi State)

4. Best Collaborating Agencies:

  • Jobberman Nigeria claimed the top spot.
  • OSSAP-SDGs secured second place.
  • Oyebuchi Chris Ifediora (OCI) Foundation received third place honors.

In his address, Brigadier General YD Ahmed encouraged prospective Corps Members to strive for a lasting legacy through selfless service and dedication to community development. He emphasized that the contributions of successive Corps Members—whether in health, education, agriculture, or advocacy—have transformed them into societal custodians and visionary leaders.
