The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has issued a prompt response to a viral video depicting an alleged assault by a lecturer on a part two student. Expressing displeasure over the video's content, the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, has taken decisive steps by ordering the establishment of a fact-finding committee to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a statement, the university authorities emphasized that the behavior depicted in the viral video is inconsistent with the institution's values. OAU is recognized as a reputable and diligent institution that unequivocally condemns any form of abuse or maltreatment. The university extends its sincere apologies to the public, particularly its alumni, whose sentiments may have been affected by the disturbing footage.
