Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has made a significant stride in enhancing STEM education with the inauguration of a cutting-edge Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) laboratory. The state-of-the-art facility, donated by leading financial technology company Moniepoint, is housed within the university's Mechanical Engineering Department.

Named the Tosin Eniolorunda CAD/CAM Laboratory, in honor of Moniepoint co-founder and OAU alumnus Tosin Eniolorunda, the lab boasts high-performance computers, laptops, interactive electronic boards, sustainable power solutions, and advanced cooling systems. It is designed to provide students with practical hands-on experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application in design and manufacturing.

During the commissioning ceremony, OAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Adebayo Bamire expressed gratitude for the philanthropic gesture. "This laboratory is a transformative investment in the future of our students," he said, encouraging other alumni to follow Eniolorunda’s example by contributing to the university’s growth.

Tosin Eniolorunda, while addressing the audience, emphasized the critical role of STEM education in Nigeria's economic development. "This facility will empower the next generation of engineers and innovators to tackle real-world challenges with cutting-edge skills," he noted.

Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Professor Lasisi Umoru, highlighted the laboratory’s potential to boost research capacity, enhance graduate employability, and set a benchmark for STEM education facilities across Nigeria.

The ceremony was graced by university dignitaries, including Deputy Vice-Chancellors, senior professors, and representatives from Moniepoint, underscoring the institution's commitment to advancing technological education. Moniepoint’s donation is part of its corporate social responsibility drive, furthering education and innovation in the country.
