Ondo Commissioner Proposes Infrastructure, Energy Reforms at FUTA Lecture

Ondo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Razaq Obe, has advocated for improved transportation networks and energy infrastructure to strengthen Nigeria’s economy.

Speaking at the 11th Annual Lecture of the School of Earth and Mineral Sciences (SEMS) at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) on September 13, 2024, Obe emphasized the need for diversification through renewable energy, solid minerals development, and value addition.

Obe stressed the importance of refining petrochemicals and processing minerals locally to create jobs and reduce import dependence. He also called for good governance and transparency in managing Nigeria's resources, urging the government to prioritize investments and policy reforms in the energy and mineral sectors.

FUTA Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by Professor Taiwo Amos, and SEMS Dean, Professor Yekini Anifowose, praised the event for its role in fostering industry-academia collaboration and innovation in earth sciences.
