Ondo Governor Allocates N1.2 Billion for OAUSTECH Projects during Convocation
During the second convocation ceremony of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced the allocation of a N1.2 billion grant to the university. This grant is intended to facilitate the completion of several stalled projects on the university campus.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who serves as the Visitor to the institution, made this declaration on Monday during the convocation ceremony. Among the projects slated for completion are abandoned buildings within the School of Science and other crucial infrastructure. Additionally, the governor pledged to prioritize the institution's monthly subvention of N91 million to bolster its operational capacity.
The governor also extended automatic employment to the university's best-graduating student, Miss Adedayo Janet, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the significance of ongoing developments within the university, particularly the nearing completion of the School of Maritime Transport and Logistics at Ugbonla, which aligns with the broader objectives of the Ondo State Deep Seaport Project and the advancement of the Blue Economy in Nigeria.
Furthermore, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured prompt action in facilitating the completion of hostel buildings that have been left unfinished, with funding from the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Ondo State Oil-producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
Expressing gratitude for the governor's commitment to the university's progress, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Adebo Adesomoju, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for directing the continuation of internal road construction within the institution.
During the convocation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, announced that a total of 1,202 students had been conferred with first degrees during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions. Prof. Ologunorisa highlighted the distribution of degrees across various classifications, indicating the university's commitment to academic excellence.

He further emphasized the university's transition from a teaching institution to a research-focused entity, citing significant achievements in research endeavors. Notably, university staff members have secured substantial funding through research programs, with awards ranging from N50 million to N250 million, further enhancing the institution's reputation and academic prowess.
