In an aftermath of the devastating accident in IMSU junction, Owerri, Imo state, the former Anambra State Governor and political figure, Peter Obi, has come under public scrutinity. Critics accuse him of playing politics with tragedy, selectively expressing concern based on regional considerations.

According to them, Obi has remained conspiciously silent, failing to make any public statements or express condolences to the victims' families despite the gravity of the IMSU incident, which killed several students.

Obi's critics pointed out that he has been quick to console victims of tragedies in other regions, particularly when it aligned with his political ambitions. However, when faced with a disaster in the East, where he enjoys significant political support, his silence has been deafening.

"He got 95% of votes in those areas. He consoles people from where he wants votes," a critic stated.

The accusation of hypocrisy stems from the perception that Obi prioritized political gains over genuine empathy for those affected by calamities.
