PF Nigeria, SMEDAN, and Correctional Service Officials Visit Covenant University Vice-Chancellor
A delegation from PF Nigeria, the Nigeria Correctional Service, and SMEDAN visited Professor Timothy Anake, the new Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, to discuss the progress of the Onesimus Project. The project, which has been running for 14 years, focuses on rehabilitating and reintegrating ex-offenders, with plans to expand into seven more states.

A delegation from PF Nigeria, alongside representatives from the Nigeria Correctional Service and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), paid a courtesy visit to Professor Timothy Anake, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota. The visit aimed to present the progress and achievements of the Onesimus Project over the past 14 years, as well as plans for expanding rehabilitation and reintegration programs to seven other states.
During the visit, the delegation highlighted the impact of the Onesimus Project in transforming the lives of ex-offenders through skill acquisition, entrepreneurship training, and reintegration into society. The project has played a vital role in addressing recidivism and empowering rehabilitated individuals with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The Executive Director of PF Nigeria, Dr. Jacob Tsado, also engaged with key partners involved in the initiative to strengthen collaboration and explore new strategies for advancing the project's objectives. The discussions focused on expanding the program’s reach and enhancing support for ex-inmates through vocational training and enterprise development.
Covenant University’s leadership, under Professor Anake, expressed commitment to supporting initiatives that align with the institution’s mission of societal transformation. The university reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate on impactful rehabilitation programs that foster positive change within the correctional system.
The visit marks a significant step towards enhancing rehabilitation and reintegration efforts in Nigeria, with a focus on leveraging educational and entrepreneurial opportunities for former inmates.
