Pipeline Vocal Project, Alaska’s pioneering vocal trio and Cultural Ambassadors for the U.S. Department of State, brought acapella magic to the University of Lagos’ Faculty of Creative Arts with a vibrant music masterclass on Monday, September 8, 2025.

The event, hosted by the University of Lagos in collaboration with the United States Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria, showcased the power of music as a unifying force and a spark for creativity. With their unique vocal harmonies and dynamic arrangements, trio members Molly Dienne, Lisa Hawkins, and Taylor Seibert introduced participants to the richness of Alaskan acapella while blending modern styles into their performance.
Organised in partnership with American Voices and American Music Abroad, the programme opened with an electrifying presentation from the Pipeline Vocal Project, followed by hands-on acapella training. Students learned to create layered vocal arrangements, explored the versatility of the human voice, and engaged in an interactive session that deepened their appreciation of the art form.

The Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts, Professor Olusoji Stephen, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, commended the visiting U.S. delegation for the collaboration. He emphasized UNILAG’s commitment to showcasing African creativity globally across all artistic fields.
Anchored by Associate Professor Sheyi Kehnny (DSK) of the Department of Music, the session was a unique blend of performance, training, and cultural exchange. It also set the stage for a follow-up music concert scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, where UNILAG students will perform alongside the Pipeline Vocal Project.
