The Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting the military and other security agencies operating within the University community to enhance safety and security.

The Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting the military and other security agencies operating within the University community to enhance safety and security.

Professor Okeudo made the pledge while receiving the new Commanding Officer of the 143 Battalion (Rangers), Ovim, Isuikwuato, Lt. Col. A. M. Rabe, during a courtesy visit to his office.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the presence of military personnel and other security agencies, noting that their efforts have significantly reduced security challenges along the Okigwe–Uturu Road.

He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Abia State and Visitor to the University, Dr. Alex C. Otti, OFR, for introducing new security strategies that have strengthened efforts to combat insecurity across the state.

Professor Okeudo urged the Commanding Officer to continue motivating officers and personnel under his command to discharge their responsibilities diligently, efficiently, and professionally, stressing that such commitment would help achieve the objectives of their deployment.

He further disclosed that the University would undertake a comprehensive review of the allowances provided to military personnel in recognition of their dedicated service.

The Vice-Chancellor also revealed that the University would consider consultations on the construction of accommodation for the personnel to improve their welfare.

He thanked Lt. Col. Rabe for taking time to visit the University and familiarize himself with its management.

Earlier, the Commanding Officer of the 143 Battalion (Rangers), Ovim, Isuikwuato, Lt. Col. A. M. Rabe, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing partnership between the Battalion and Abia State University in maintaining peace and improving security within the University community.

He assured the Vice-Chancellor that ensuring adequate security presence along the Okigwe–Uturu axis to safeguard lives and property would remain one of his major priorities.

Lt. Col. Rabe also commended Professor Okeudo for his unwavering commitment to security and appreciated the provision of emergency hotline numbers to facilitate prompt response to security incidents.

He prayed for God's continued protection and guidance for the University management and military personnel as they continue to discharge their responsibilities.
