Prof. Edoba Omorogie, SAN Emerges UNIBEN 11th Vice Chancellor

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has officially appointed Professor Edoba Omoregie as its new Vice-Chancellor. The announcement was made by Professor Shaibu Umaru, Chairman of the Governing Council, during a press briefing held on Friday in Benin.
Professor Omoregie, a distinguished specialist in constitutional law and governance, was selected from a pool of 27 candidates vying for the prestigious position. He will succeed the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lillian Salami, whose tenure concludes on December 1.
Born on April 5, 1969, in Benin City, Professor Omoregie is an alumnus of the University of Benin, where he earned his first, second, and third degrees. After being called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992, he was honored with the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2021, recognizing his significant contributions to the legal profession.
The university community and stakeholders have expressed their anticipation for Omoregie's leadership, as he takes the helm of the institution at a critical time. His extensive background in law and governance is expected to bring fresh perspectives to UNIBEN's administration.
