Professor Abednego Becomes Second Deaf Professor From Northern Nigeria

The University of Jos has promoted Michael Abednego to the rank of Professor, a remarkable achievement that showcases his dedication to academia despite being deaf. Professor Abednego becomes the second deaf professor from northern Nigeria.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1992 and later earned a master's degree in Special Education in 1996. He worked as a classroom teacher for deaf children before joining the University of Jos as a lecturer in 2010. He completed his Ph.D. in Special Education in 2018 and has since risen through the academic ranks.

Professor Abednego has published articles in scholarly journals, authored a book, and participated in conferences and workshops. He currently heads the Hearing Impairment Unit in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Jos.
