Professor Ayodeji Olatunji to Deliver 125th Inaugural Lecture at Olabisi Onabanjo University

The Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, will host its 125th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, 10th March 2026, delivered by Professor Ayodeji Anike Olatunji, a distinguished Pediatric Radiologist.

The Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, will host its 125th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, 10th March 2026, delivered by Professor Ayodeji Anike Olatunji, a distinguished Pediatric Radiologist.

The lecture, titled “Beyond Shadows: Imaging Science and the Radiologist’s Quest To Reveal The Unseen,” will hold at the OGD Lecture Theatre, Main Campus, starting at 2:00 pm.

Prof. Olatunji’s academic journey began at Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja, before earning her MBBS degree from the University of Lagos. She completed her specialization at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, under the mentorship of the late Prof. S. B. Lagundoye, and further honed her expertise at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

Her research contributions include a postgraduate dissertation on “Ultra Sonographic Appearances of the Spleen in Sickle Cell Anaemia Patients + Book Case Reports” (May 1994) and a co-authored publication on “Roles of Pain Abdominal X-Ray in the Differential Diagnosis of Common Acute Abdominal Conditions in Children” at Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital, Shagamu (Open Journal of Radiology, Vol. 13 No. 3, 2023). She also published on “Elderly Patients With Trauma: Radiologist’s Perspective of Burden of Disease in a Nigerian Sub-Urban Tertiary Hospital” (Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, India, 2007–2026).

Now a Fellow of the Medical College of Radiology, Prof. Olatunji has made significant contributions to pediatric radiology and imaging science in Nigeria. She is married to retired Professor of Haematology, Olusola Olatunji of Egbaland; they were married in 1983 at an Anglican Church in Ekiti and are blessed with children and grandchildren.

The Vice Chancellor of OOU, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, will preside over the lecture, with seating requested by 1:30 pm to ensure a serene and orderly academic environment, according to Prof. O. O. Olubomehin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Chairman of the Academic Ceremonies Committee.

This lecture marks another milestone in OOU’s commitment to advancing medical knowledge and celebrating academic excellence.
