The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has shortlisted 606 applicants for Masters and Ph.D. foreign scholarships, undergoing physical screening at the Bauchi centre. The screening, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi, is part of a nationwide process taking place across six states.
Suraju Abdullahi Fari, the team lead of the fund, explained that the candidates were selected through an online application managed by a computerised system and verified by an independent consultant to ensure transparency. The applicants are competing for scholarships in oil and gas or renewable energy fields, addressing the nation's energy challenges.

Dr. Usman Hassan, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department at ATBU and a panelist, noted that most applicants' proposals were relevant to the oil and gas industry.
