Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has announced the reconstitution of the institution's Governing Council. The new council was officially unveiled on August 27, 2024, by Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government.

The reconstituted council will be chaired by Prof. Roseline Konya, a distinguished academic known for her extensive experience and commitment to public service. Prof. Konya’s appointment is anticipated to bring valuable leadership and vision to the polytechnic.
