Rotary International Honors FUL VC with Outstanding Educator Award
The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, has been conferred with the prestigious "Award of Outstanding Educator" by Rotary International.
This recognition is in appreciation of his remarkable contributions to education and academic excellence.
The award was presented to Professor Akinwumi during the investiture ceremony and installation of Rtn. Jane Uchechukwu Ejike (Ochiora) as the 42nd President of Rotary Club of Lokoja. The ceremony brought together distinguished personalities and dignitaries from various parts of Kogi State.
The Chief of Staff to the DG District Governor, Rtn. Shaibu Ilyasu Sa'ad, highlighted Professor Akinwumi's notable achievements as the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of FUL, citing the university's rapid growth under his visionary leadership. He also acknowledged the VC's outstanding contributions to educational development in Kogi State and Nigeria.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Akinwumi, represented by Professor Abel Joseph, expressed gratitude to Rotary International for recognizing his contributions to the university and the education sector. He congratulated the new president and urged her to resuscitate the student arm of the Rotary Club in the university.
This recognition further solidifies FUL's reputation as a leading institution of higher learning in Nigeria, under the leadership of Professor Akinwumi. The university continues to strive for excellence in education, research, and community service.
