SERVICOM Officials Assesses/evaluates UBTH on Service Delivery

On Tuesday 24th October 2023, the Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital received a team of officers from the Federal Ministry  of Health (FMOH) led by Uzochukwu Hope Aguomba, Myschoolnews gathered.

 

Addressing the Chief Medical Director, ably represented by Prof. Stanley Okugbo and other members of Management team, the team lead, Mr. Uzochukwu  Aguomba said the purpose of their visit was in pursuant of the statutory mandate of the Ministry through the SERVICOM compliance principles and  the Open Government Partnership (OGP) reporting system for the assessment and evalaution of service delivery in the hospital.

 One of the objectives of the exercise is to create a synergy between Health Institutions and the Federal Ministry of Health, to identify gaps and recommend new policy measures to be adopted in addressing them, Aguomba said.

On his part, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Prof Stanley Okugbo, emphasized the need for immediate increase of personnel , stating that there is utmost urgency to replace manpower that are exiting from all cadres of Staff in order to reduce incidences of burn out by those remaining so as to avoid service disruption.

The two days exercise held from Tuesday 24th to Wednesday 25th October, 2023. The instruments used to carry out this exercise were both human and material such as, SERVICOM officers and the Service index check-list .

The exercise was carried out conscientiously as Departments, Units, (clinical and non-clinical), Wards +Geriatrics, B4, C1 and C2), COPD, A&E Triage, NHIS (main office and outlets) Laboratories etc, were randomly visited.

The evaluation excercise  climaxed with a debrief by the team at the hospital's Boardroom after the hospital tour and assessment and UBTH was scored 80% on cleanliness of the environment and was rated 85% generally.
