Skyline University Nigeria conducts Human Resource Roundtable Forum

The management of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has successfully conducted a Human Resource Roundtable Forum for final year students on 17th January, 2024.

The session was curated by the Corporate Affairs Department and the faculty of the university.

Giving his remarks, Mr. Trimisiyu Omotayo Lawal, a lecturer in the Department of Economics and moderator, said the program was timely to adequately prepare the students for future challenges, themed ‘Emerging Trends in the Job Market’. He said the human resource experts invited were resourceful enough to share the workplace experience that can be of immense benefit to the students.

Mr. Moses Gali, Branch Head at Zenith Bank, Zoo Road, Kano State, said the students should always pay attention to honesty in all their dealings with employers. He explained that employers would always want to test candidates on attitude, aggression, integrity and confidence. He advised them to be very diplomatic in expressing their opinions, as that is where human relations and expertise are showcased.

While delivering his speech, Mr. Huzaifa Sani, HR assistant at Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), said he was happy to share his experience with the students of SUN. He said salary expectation is one of the trickiest questions that makes prospective employees clueless and anxious.

He said the students must desist from showing any acts of greediness and capitalize on aligning their goals with those of the organization they hope to work for. He added that as they prepare to become fresh graduates, they should be organized and confident enough to interact effectively with their prospective employers.

In her closing remarks, the Dean of the School of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS), Dr. Sudha Mavuri, said the session was not only to expose students to new trends in the job market. She said SUN trains future employers and not job seekers, as the information they gather will be useful to them when selecting the best employers.

Dr. Mavuri then thanked the experts, on behalf of SUN management for sparing their time to talk to the students.
