NECO Releases 2023 SSCE Results: 67.35% Score 5 Credits in English, Maths

Out of the 74,950 candidates who registered for the exam, 74,342 eventually sat for it, comprising 52.28% males and 47.71% females. Of these candidates, 75.59% obtained Credit and above in English Language, while 92.75% achieved the same in Mathematics.

NECO Releases 2023 SSCE Results: 67.35% Score 5 Credits in English, Maths

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2023 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, revealing that 67.35% of candidates obtained five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics.

Professor Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, disclosed this during an official announcement at the NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State. The examination, which took place from November 20 to December 20, 2023, saw a significant number of candidates achieving success.

Moreover, a notable 50,066 candidates, representing 67.35%, secured five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, 84.11% of candidates attained five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar highlighted a decrease in malpractice cases, with 8,518 reported cases compared to 11,419 in 2022, marking a decline of 25.4%. Notably, malpractice incidents in the 2023 SSCE External included two centers, one each in Kaduna and Ogun States, involved in whole center cases. Furthermore, supervisors in Oyo and Lagos States were blacklisted for inadequate supervision and aiding malpractice, while a center in Borno State was blacklisted for facilitating malpractice through WhatsApp messages to candidates.

In addition to announcing the results, Professor Wushishi introduced the e-Posting Software aimed at streamlining the process of staff posting for out-of-station assignments within the Council. This digitalized approach seeks to address previous challenges such as lopsidedness and favoritism in the manual posting process.

Through the new software, staff will receive notifications at the beginning of each year regarding their eligibility and assignments, enhancing transparency and efficiency in the posting process.
