31% Pass Rate Recorded in WAEC's 2024 CBT Exam for Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has disclosed the results of its inaugural Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates conducted earlier this year. Out of the 8,139 candidates (3,862 males and 4,277 females) who sat for the exam across 140 CBT centers nationwide, only 30.95% achieved a credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, necessary for university admissions.

However, 0.80% of candidates had their results withheld due to alleged malpractice during the exam, reflecting a significant reduction compared to the previous year. Dr. Dangut assured that investigations are ongoing, and affected candidates will receive direct communication regarding their cases. They will also have the opportunity to seek redress through a dedicated link provided by WAEC.

Candidates are advised to check their results on the official WAEC website and access their digital certificates. Additionally, they can apply for the printing of hard copies of their certificates online. Dr. Dangut expressed gratitude to all involved in the examination process and emphasized WAEC's commitment to maintaining integrity in the assessment system.
